Surf and Rock Instrumental Review: Delphonic Sounds Of Today - Various Artists

Have you experienced the unique blend of old surf tunes with a 90s twist? If not, you're in for a treat. Del-Fi is back with another exceptional compilation CD, blending the best of both eras. Their consistency in delivering such unique blends is commendable, and I look forward to seeing what they come up with next.

Man or Astroman? The Tiki Tones and Los Straitjackets, among others, deliver stellar performances, as expected from these top-tier surf groups. Davie Allan and The Arrows' rendition of "Our Favorite Martian" is a standout, arguably one of the most amazing surf tunes ever recorded.

This has a 90s feel, yet it can also convey the sound of the era. This is no small task, considering that many groups do not use vintage equipment, such as classic Fender guitars and vintage tube amplifiers, which are integral to the sound of surf music.

If you want to tune into the third wave of surf and enjoy the old classics, you will love this! I did. It's very cool. Their performances are sure to leave you in awe.

You can get it on Amazon for a very low price if you're interested!

Interview With Jim Abrahams - Surf Rally For Cali: Fire Relief, by Various Artists

I had a great conversation with Jim Abrahams, the lead guitar player of the surf instrumental band The Breakers. We discussed all the work that he and his friends did for the Surf Rally For Cali: Fire Relief Compilation, featuring various artists.

Surf Instro Review: The Cocktail Preachers-Nothing Much Happening...

This group, The Cocktail Preachers, hailing from the Chicago area, has put together an excellent debut EP, Nothing Much Happening....

They are successful in covering all sub-genres with an assortment of high-energy, power-packed surf tunes.

The use of the saxophone always creates a different dimension to the music. This is what will separate them from the pack.

There aren't too many surf groups that use the sax. This was too short for me, I enjoyed it, so I wanted more! I look forward to a full-length release.

Look for their work on an upcoming Del-Fi compilation called Surf Monsters, due out in late May.

A lot is happening in Chicago. Perhaps the title refers to the fact that they don't surf in Chicago, so nothing is happening? The future looks bright for the Cocktail Preachers. Somebody sign these guys so we can hear a full-length CD!
